Fishing on Lake Chesdin
On Lake Chesdin, fishing is a favorite pastime. The lake is home to a wide variety of fish, including channel catfish, crappie, and largemouth bass.
- Channel Catfish Fishing – Lake Chesdin is perhaps best known for its channel catfish. The plentiful species is easy to catch, even after heavy rain, and are particularly fond of nightcrawlers, minnows, and chicken livers. Find them near the steep drop-offs any time of day and expect them to weigh 2-6 pounds.
- Crappie Fishing – Lake Chesdin is fully stocked with both black and white crappie fish. Using several rods to troll for them throughout the year will help you find crappie that are up to 10 inches long. For the best results, use triple tail grubs in black, smoke, or chartreuse colors. Small minnows are also reliable.
The lake is also popular among people who enjoy shad fishing and herring fishing. Walleye fishing and striped bass fishing are also common, as Lake Chesdin is stocked with each annually.
